Mrs. Jewell Cantwell returned to
her home in Fort Worth, Monday,
after a visit with her cousins, Mr.
and Mrs. L. L. Dunn. Mr. and Mrs.
Dunn and Mrs. Cantwell enjoyed
a delightful vacation tour during
which they visited relatives in
Amarillo, made a sightseeing trip
through the Palo Duro Canyon and
on July 4 attended a Dunn family
reunion in a park in Lubbock.
They joined a party of 17 relatives
and friends who went through the
Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico
on July 7.

as Wedding Date
The Rev. and Mrs. Roy Moseley
announce the engagement and ap-
proaching marriage of their
daughter, Joan to Kenneth Martin,
son of Mrs. Elsie Martin.
The wedding date has been cal-
endared for Aug. 16 at the Mid-
way Baptist Church.
Jean is a student in the Electra
High School and Kenneth is em-
ployed by the Bell Service Station
in Electra^

Edgar C. Darter is a native of
Pecos but came to Electra from
Mineral Wells, with his parents, J.
M. and the late Mrs. J. M. Darter,
in 1917. He attended Mineral Wells
and Electras chools and was em-
ployed in the local oil fields prior
to entering the mattress making
business in June, 1930 at 400 N.
Main Street. In 1932 he moved to
200 N. Main and added a line of
used furniture. His first major
expansion was in 1936 when he and
Mrs. Darter moved to the Bailey
Building on West Cleveland and
put m his first modest stock of
new furniture The next move was
to the Sheldon Building now
known as the Club Cafe location
and in May, 1939, they moved to
the Prince Building at 222 W.
Cleveland, During all this period
they operated a mattress factory

Mr. and Mrs. DeCourse Williams
and little son, Gregory, were hon-
ored with a covered dish supper
and social at the First Baptist
Church, Tuesday evening. Mr. Wil-
liams has been transferred by the
Magnolia Petroleum Company to
the company headquarters office in the depths of our hearts, ’‘Thank
You. and Gc.l Bless You."

pastor, offered the invocation.;
Johnny R. Brown was master of;
ceremonies. Mrs. James E. Totten I
was song leader and Mrs. Howard
Smith, pianist.
Rev. Lester paid tribute to Wil-
liams for his devotion to his church
and his faithful and efficient ser-
vice in all phases of its work. He
also praised Mrs. Williams as an
outstanding leader and Christian
mother.
T. E. Shaw, senior deacon and
former superintendent of the
church, added fitting tributes to
the departing family and he spoke
in behalf of the department super-
intendents in presenting a gift of
pottery from the church and called
attention also to a handsome ar-
ray of gifts from classes, groups
and Individuals. The gifts included
crystal to complete a service for
ten.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Williams ex-
pressed their appreciation of the
favors shown them and their love
and affection for their co-workers
and neighbors. The -benediction [
was preceded by singing, “Blest be
the Tie that Binds."

Dallas and the affair was in the
nature of a farewell to them.
Hosts and hostesses for the occas-
ion included department heads of Demonstration Clubs, employes of

Mr. Darter, an aviation enthus-
iast has logged more than 1,100
hours of flying in his 11 years as
a pilot and owner of planes He is
currently serving as chairman of
the Aviation Committee of the
Electra Chamber of Commerce.
He uses his 4-place Stinson plane
on cross-country flight for pleas-
ure and business, with Mrs. Darter
serving as co-pilot and navigator.
His hobby is hunting and fishing
while Mrs. Darter’s hobby is music
and work among young people. She
is chairman of the investigating
committee of the Electra Welfare
Board.

being held nightly in a large tent
at the corner of Harrison and Main
Streets.
Services begin each night at 7:40
with a prelude of organ music pre-
sented by Mrs. Robinson on the
Hammond organ, which the evan-
gelistic party carries with them.
Quartet music is furnished by the
Ambassador Quartet, composed of
Bobby Beaudreaux, Eddie Gibbs,
Yvonne Rodgers and Bertha Lynn.
Large crowds are attending
these services. Robinson is a tal-
ented and dynamic speaker, and
each night has a stirring message
for all who attend. Plan now to
be there and invite someone to
come with you. The services will
be in progress several days longer.
