HD Club Meeting
1 4 Mrs. R. C. Eaves was hosted,
Friday afternoon, July 3, to mem-
bers of the South Electra Home
Demonstration Club, at her home
on the Vernon highway.
Mrs. Jim Robb led the opening
song which was followed by the
assembly repeating the “Lord’s
Prayer” and club'pledge.
Roll call was answered with a
‘“Safety Hint."
Mrs. Eaves, president, presided
over the business session during

A. L. Dowden presented Mrs. Al-
ton Holbrook who spoke on
“Making Our Water Suply Safe."
Mrs. Dowden conducted a parlia-
mentary drill and directed the re-
creation period.

Cato, Roy Chambers, W. L. Simp-
son, Bobbie Hardgrove and George
Griffith.
Mrs. Hardgrove was named as
hostess for the July 17 meeting.
TERRACING
Terracing io now in progress on
Mhs. Wymore Downing’s farm near
Electra; Cecil Isbell is the opera-
tor. Herbert Keisling of Clara is
also terracing as is Frank Foster
of Electra. Terracing is an import-
ant part of a coordinated conser-
vation program on some land
classes, however, district cooper-
ators have applied only 309 miles
of terraces whereas studies of
land needs show that about 3000
more Allies will have to be applied
if the present land use is continu-
ed and total conservation i-s to
be had.

Flies to Hollywood
Taking off from the Amon
Carter Air Field, Fort Worth,
Wednesday, Donna Garner,’an 8-
ycar old Electra miss, went to
Hollywood. California by plane, to
visit her maternal grandmother.
Mrs. Burnie Snyder, who resides
in the motion picture capital city.
The young lady’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Don Garner, accompani-
ed her to Fort Worth to see her
off on the plane.
Donna is a granddaughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Bennett.

cently underwent major surgery in
a Wichita Falls hospital, has been
returned td her home and is re-

National Farm
Safety Week
Slated July 19
President Eisenhower’s procla-
mation calling upon the nation to
observe the week beginning July
the 19 as National Farm Safety
Week has been issued.
The supervisors of the Wilbar-
ger-Wichita Soil Conservation Dis-
trict join with the President in
urging farm people to “Farm To
routine reports were given. Mrs. Live and Live to Farm." In 1951,
there were 14,500 accidental
deaths on farms and 1,250,000 in-
juries.
