House. Jefferson Davis's home,
which is now used as a museum
for the keeping and caring for sale by Dick Bond,
the Confederacy. The different i
rooms in this building are for the
relics of the different states. In
the Virginia room, in a large case
is the uniform of Gen. R. E. Lee,
in which he surrendered, also his
camp equipments, pistols, swords
and many other articles belonging
to the great chieftain. In anoth-
er similar case is the uniform of
Gen. Stonewall JackaoD m which
be was killed, and the pocket
handkerchief stained with his
blond, also a pair of goUd spurs
given to him by some ladyifriends,
and all his accoutermentsof camp
life. The Texas room has but
few relics, among them I noticed
a large chair given to Col. Daffan
of Ennis, Texas, by the operatives
in the round house there, and
presented by the Col. to the
museum. A similar one also, by
Col. Quinlan, another of the |I.
fic T.-C. R. R. officials. These
two distinguished gentlemen were
members of Texas regiments in
tbe war. The 'matron insisted
that Texas should send up more
relics that would perpetuate the
deeds of her noble sons.
We then went to Oakwood
Cemetery, where 16.000 (sixteen
thousand) Confederate soldiers
are buried and cared for by tbe
good people of Richmond. If I
get time next wrek I shall go out
