of Rockwall were guests of Mr.
and Mrs. G. W. Morgan over the
week end.
Mrs. N. B. Smith and sons
have returned from Dumas.
Mr. and Mrs. Buel Wright and
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Tarver and
daughter were in Wichita Falls
Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Kelley Huggins
returned lrom Hot Springs, Ar-
kansas, after a nice vacation

Mr. and Mrs. LaGrande Hen-
derson spent the weekend in
San Antonio.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Luther
had as their guests the past
week, their grandchildren Trena
and Virgil Leo Howland. They
are the children of Mr. and
M^s. W. L. Howland of Fort
Worth. Mr. and Mrs. Howland
also spent the weekend here,
returning to their home in Fort
Worth Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hall are the
parents of a baby girl, born in
the Bowie hospital Sunday.
Last Rites Monday'
For Mrs. Powell
Funeral services for Mrs. Tom-
mie Grace Powell, 41, who died
Saturday morning at her home,
808 Bui'icburnett Road, conduct-
ed at 2'p. m. , Monday at the
Home, with Rev C. O. Hall, Bap-
tist pastor of Olney, Texas, of-
ficiating.
Interment was In Elmwood
cemetery at Bowie.
A resident of Wichita Falls
for 30 years, Mrs. Powell was
born at Bowie, Sep’t 19, 1911.
Survivors Include her hus-
band, Shelton B. Powell; six
daughters, Mrs. Tommie Joyce
Harman, Miss Patsy Leona
Powell, Miss Sue Ann Powell,
Miss Nancy Oleta Powell and
Miss Janet Lou Powell, all of
Wichita Falls; three sisters,
Mrs. Allie Young "of Bowie;
Mrs. Mamie Herrington of Staf-
ford, Kan., and Miss Oleta Wil-
son of Wichita Falls; a brother,
Clarence Wilson of Bowie and
two grandchildren.

Mrs. R. M. Hamilton honored
her at her home in Bowie with
a birthday tea and a handker-
chief shower, Monday night,

Mrs. S. R. Neely received a

present. She celebrated her 85
birthday.

Scouts to Suggest
Name for New
Clay-Montague Dist.
Boy Scouts of the newly
formed district of Clay and
Montague counties will be given
an opportunity of selecting an
appropriate name for the new
district according to a resolu-
tion adopted when scouters of
the two counties met for the
first time at the Hoffman cafe
in .Nocona, Thursday night of
last week.
Names such as Chisolm Trail,
Arrowhead, Kiowa and Clay-
Montague have been suggested.
The name will be announced at
the April meeting of the district
to be held at Bowie.
Officers of the new district
which is a part of the Northwest
Texas Council were elected as
follows: A. N. Arveson, Nocona,
district chairman; John Miller,
Henrietta, and W. K. Myers,
Nocona, vice chairman.
Committee chairmen named
at the meeting were, Finis Tay-
lor, Nocona, organization and
extension, and Ralph Yeakley, I
Nocona, leadership training.

News was introduced at the
meeting and offered his services
to the scouting program. He
is past president of an Ohio
council of the Boy Scouts of
America and has received the
highest award in scoutdom, the
Silver Beaver.
In the meeting last Thursday
night, Milt Myatt, Wichita Falls,
chief executive of the North-
west Texas Council explained
the way to proceed and how
a Boy Scout may achieve the
God and Country Award which
is ope nto all boy scouts who
have attained a First Class rat-
ing and he may begin his work
on the award after he has been
made a Tenderfoot. A chaplain
is to be appointed for leach
in obtaining the award.
Scouts are to work with the
minister of the church and he
must learn the principles of
Chritian citizenship and spend
150 hours over a period in ser-
vice projects for his church.
The following scouters at-
troop who is to advise the Scout

and Poe Vandament. Mr. Bloom
who has been serving as district
commissioner for Montague
county was recommended as a
commissioner for the new dis-

CORRECTION ON
SCHOOL BUILDING BID CALL
The call fdr bids on the sale of school building list-
ed last week by the Bowie Independent School District
as Rocky Hill should have read Rocky Point. It is the
Rocky Point school building and not the Rock Hill build-
ing which is being offered for sale. This is the building
formerly used by the Rocky Point Common School Dis-
trict for school before this district was consolidated to
the Bowie Independent School. The building is located
on the Newport-Chico road approximately six miles
south of Newport. Sealed bids will be received by Mr.
Orie Garrett, secretary of the Bowie School Board, up
to 4 p. m. on Tuesday, April 8th. Bids are to cover the
building only. The site is not to be sold.
