the Shreveport branch of the Cot-
ton Belt.

dramas on the road.
The State of Texas vs. W. M.
Moores for murder will be called
up on Monday at Boston. Jep
Smith same charge will be called
on the Ist of October.
Third quarterly meeting will be
held at the 4th street M. E. church
today. Communion at the morning
services. McMaster will preach
both morning and evening.
The total enrollment of the Tex-
arkana College and Conservatory
of Music has now reached 92. From
present Indications the enrollment
will run over 100 next Monday.
Jim Fault has ordered himself a
stripped suit and plug hut to wear
to Dallas on the occasion of the
State Fair. Jim has the diamonds
and rubles to go with the suit.
Cotton Is still going up up up
looking for the days when the
prices ranged from 17 to 20 cents.
Everybody had money then and we
long to see those same old days
return.
"Darkest Russia" will play In
only three Arkansas cities and
make lour stops In Texas after
which the troupe will return to
New York and remain there during

Tom Marbury showed up yester-
day. He has been sick several days
and when his frame showed up be-
hind the counter at Ragland's yes-
terday the boys who have been
drinking cold soda water called for
hot lemonades. They said Tom’s
looks made them shiver.

Mr. Al C. Jennings clerk at the
Palace Drug Store has been here
but a short time but he has made
friends of all who drop into the Pal-
ace to trade with the house. His
home paper says of him: Al C. Jen-
nings son of our fellow citizen Dr.
C. A. Jennings and for a number
of years a pharmacist in Brummall
Bros store is now drawing 175.00 a
month “rolling pills" for a Texark-
ana Texas druggist. Al is said to
have a most desirable position iu
one of the finest drug stores in Tex-
as the fixtures for which cost $13-
000 alone. He is well pleased with
Texas its beautiful prairies and
tine climate and contemplates mak-
ing it his future home. Al is a
whole-souled companionable young
gentleman and has many friends in
Olariton who will be pleased to learn

BAND CONCERT.
Half a house greeted "our boys”
last night at their concert at Ohio’s
opera house. The programme was
an excellent one and the music made
could not be improved on. The
soloists were all accorded a recall
and showed their appreciation of
such call by short selections.
The Marcha Zacatecas by the
Mexican band was made up by
home people ladles and gentlemen
and the Mexican instruments
guitars mandolins and saxaphonc
predominating. This was the best
number rendered.
The reporter was called away
before the programme of the even-
ing's entertainment was completed
andean only say that if the latter
part of the programme was as well
executed as the former the enter-
tainment was a decided success.
