with Mrs. Charlie Williams,

President, presided.
Mrs. Fred Higganbotham
opened the meeting with pray-
er.
Mrs. Clements conducted a
brief business meeting. Mrs.
Graham read the minutes of the
March meeting. Mrs. O.H. Mc-
Alister, Treasurer gave the
financial report, and the three
Group Captains reported as to
the welfare of their members.
Mrs. W.E. Harrison, Class
Teacher, gave an Informative
and interesting discussion of
Easter; its origin, purpose,
customs, and the enduring in-
fluence upon the lives of the
people. This was the Devotion-
al, and was quite in keeping
with the year’s study of Bible
Women, as planned by Mrs.
. Fred Higganbotham, Class
Vice-president.
Mrs. Pinkney Garvey thrill-
ed the souls of her listeners
as she so very beautifully pre-
sented the story of Sarah, the
wife of Abraham. Mrs. Gar-
vey whose beautiful Christian
life is an inspiration to every-
one who has the privilege of
calling her their friend, re-
vealed through her story bow
the lives of Sarah and Abra-
ham demonstrated how man-
kind, in his own strength falls
when he meets the problems
of life. God called them out
of their own land of riches,
of wealth, culture, and idointry
to a land where they would
be a blessing, as well as the
beginning of a great nation.
Mrs. Garvey pointed out that
the tragedy in Sarah’s lifetwas
not that she had no son but
that she did not have suffic-
Girl Scout
Conference
Scheduled
~Mrs. Earl W. Aldrup, Jack-
sohvllle, Alabama, will conduct
a conference on Thursday, April
21 for the board of directors
and nominating committee
members of the Heart of Tex-
as Girl Scout council, Mrs.
Roscoe Langford, council pres-
ident, announced today.
The conference will be held
from, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
in the Wren Room of Tarleton
State College Dining Hall in
Stephenville. ‛

Mrs. G.A. Bills spent Wednes-
day driving around in the area
of the storm on the Loving
highway and in the Monument
community.
Their first stop was Joe She-
pard’s farm where there was
considerable damage to the
house, roof, and the chimney
blown away.
They stopped at Jess She-
pard’s place which was dam-
aged. No one was living at
this home. Mrs. Dalrymple’s
home had damage to the water
works. They went to Roy Bur-
dick’s home to view damage.
Many mesquite trees were up-
rooted and the windmill demo-
lished. •
They visited Malcolm Cox’s
place, and no damage report-
ed. They returned to the Farm-
er Burdick place, owned by
Harold Cox. W R. Shepard’s
barn had been unroofed. The top
was blown off the Joe Shepard
home and crews were reroof-
ing. Cas Shepard lives in this
house, and walls and ceiling
were also damaged. Mr. and
Mrs. Cas Shepard were not at
home as he is a hospital pa-
tient and his wife was stay-
ing with a son.
I They' drove to Loving and
enjoyed lunch at the Willis Cafe
and visited Mr. and Mrs. J.
E Tedrow. Enroute home they
stopped at the old G A Bills
home, now owned by Joe Shep-
ard, where the roof was dam-
aged and two hen houses and
a barn damaged.
Spring Festival
Suzane Hendricks, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hendricks
of Fort Worth, andgrandqaugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Hadley
Chesnut of Graham, will sing
in the Spring Festival in Will
Rogers Auditorium in Fort

"The March of Missions in
Europe” was the topic, of dis-
cussion Saturday morning when
the YWA’s of the First Baptist
Church met for a breakfast
meeting in the church annex.
Afte r a very enjoyable meal,
a meditation period on the mes-
sage of three bells was de-
livered by Betty Thompson,
program chairman, who also
told of the Historical March in
Europe. Jana Edgar reviewed
Behind the Iron'Curtaln, San-
dra Wignahl, Italy; and Rita
Reeves, France and Switzer-
land. One of the most stirring
Christian hymns that has come
from Europe, ”A Mighty Fort-
ress Is Our God,” was read
in closing.
YWA’s present for the meet-
ing included those already men-
tioned and Linda Stewart, Mar-
tha Abbott, Eileen Owens, Diane
Andrews, Becky Brashears,
Kathy Murray, Jackie Self, a
visitor, Mrs. Elmer Kunkel,
counselor, and Mrs. Joe Dam-
ron. .

We recall back in October 1944, being a new citizen in
Graham a week and the month Graham Commuhity Concert
Association was organized. Opal Fultz came into our office
and solicited our membership
We are proud, as many of you are, that we are charter
members of Community Concert Association as it has pre-
sented many many fine concerts and as good as you would
see and hear in Dallas, Fort Worth, or Wichita Falls Opal
has spent much of her "leisure" time in the-interest of this
organization and we know we speak in behalf of all members
when we say she is one of the most active and faithful mem
bers of this organization

lowship of the First Christian
Church met Monday evening in I
the Church Fellowship Hall for
study and business meeting.
Mrs. S.S. Sutton, president, '

the CWF prayer. The minutes
were read by Mrs. Charles
Gissom, secretary, and the
finance report was given by
Miss Lucille Reed, treasurer,
" who also reported on Easter
gifts to the shut-ins. • . ,
"Blessing Boxes" were plac-
edin a tray on the worship
center by the members, and
Mrs. J.B. Grimes, worship
chairman, offered a prayer of
dedication. The contents of the
boxes will be taken to the CWF
meeting at the State Conven-
tion of Christian Churches in
Wichita Falls, April 30, where
they, together with those of
other CWF groups, will be dedi-
cated to the Mission work of
* the brotherhood.

quiet members of our class,
is also one of the most loyal,
and is always eager to do her
best for our Master. Her home
was prepared with loving hands
for her beloved class mem-
bers, even as the home of Mary,
Martha and Lazarus must have
been prepared, long ago, for
the coming of Jesus, when dur-
ing His earthly ministry He
often turned aside to renew His
faith and His strength among
these who loved Him.
Mrs. Florence Graham, who
has for many years been the
faithful secretary of her class,
assisted Mrs. Williams in serv-
ing a bountiful refreshment
plate to the following mem-
bers: Mmes. Fred Higganboth-
am, Pinkney Garvey, W.E. Har-
rison, Elvis Clements, W H.
Mitchell, Florence Graham, O.
H. McAlister, W T. Berry,
Charlie Williams. Mrs. W.T.
Berry dismissed the group with
prayer.
