Plans Education
Exhibit in County
On April 4 the Home Demon-
stration Council met in the
courthouse at Graham. The
meeting was called to order by
Mrs. H.G.- Williams, council
chairman. Prayer was given by
Mrs. G.C. Glover. The Prof-
fitt club led the recreation.
Roll call was answered by nine
clubs with a total of nine mem-
bers present.
Routine business was taken
care of by the council. Plans
are being made for the ten
Home Demonstration clubs to
set up education exhibits
throughout the county. The ex-
r hibits will be prepared from
educational programs present-
ed during the year. The ex-
hibits will be displayed in busi-
nesses tor the public to see.
A report was given by the
THDA delegates on’ the Dis-
trict THDA meeting in Breck-
enridge on March 29. Those
serving as delegates were Mrs.
H.G. Blanton, Mrs. Glover, and
Mrs. L.G. Bills. Twenty-one
ladies attended the meeting
from Young County.
The next meeting of the coun-
cil will be May 2 at 2:00 p.m.
in the courthouse in Graham.

Christian Service of The First
Methodist Church met Tuesday
April 12 at 9;30 a.m. In the
Church parlor tor the second
session of the Spring study,
"Acts, Then and Now."
The Society president, Mrs.
W. G. Street called the meet-
ing to order and Mrs. H.F.
Christopher led the group in
prayer. • I
A brief business meeting was
conducted at which time cor-
respondence and minutes of the
last meeting were read. Sev-
eral announcements were made
and Mrs. Jessie Boyer report-
ed on the District conference
in Waxahachie to which she
was a delegate from this so-
ciety.
Mns. Boyer, who is secre-
tary of Missionary Education
then presented the second ses-
sion of the study, beginning by
leading the group in singing,
"Am I A Soldier of the Cross?"
with Mrs. Lindsey Hawkins at
the piano, Mrs. Boyer spoke
on "The Church as a Fellow-
ship and Institution" using a
large poster to illustrate. As
the group followed along in their
individual books, Mrs. Alton
Hawkins and Mrs. Jerry Mar-
chman read scripture from
Acts.
The meeting was closed with
the benediction.
The third session will be pre-
sented Tuesday, April 19, 9:30
a.m. in the Church Raboxel

The Wesleyan Service Guild
met April 11, at 7:30 in the
Church Parlor with 18 mem-
bers present. Mrs. N.L. Edgar’,
the president, called on Mrs.
L.A. Hefner for prayer. Mrs.

Mrs. Oliver Loving who had
the worship service gave an
inspiring talk on witnessing.
Alice Mobley who was program

Mrs. W.S. Morris presented
the "Thought for the Day" re-
minding members to develop the
unsung art o f forgetting and
quoted Paul to Philippians 3:-
13-14 "Forgetting those things
which are behind, I press to-
ward the mark for the prize
of toe high calling of God to
Christ Jesus."
Mrs. Frank Pillar explained
the basic forms of music and
entertained. withaccordion se-
lections illustrating each. The
following numbers were includ-
ed: Sonantina in C, Come Back
to Sorrento, Varsouviana, Mex-
ican Hat Dante, Barbara Pol-
ka, and The Plum Lane' Song.
Mrs. -Joe Lake discussed the
history and background of
drama. Mention was made of th<
trend toward the use of drama
to worship and religious edu-
cation to the church. In it's
earliest beginnings, drama was
connected with religious rites.
Mrs. Earl Shepard discussed
“The Story Behind the Paint-
ing” as an introduction to-her
topic concerning Art. She sug-
gested that every library should
include “Christ and the Fine
Arts” by Cynthia Pearl Maus.”
"The great paintings are of-
ten the result of a lifetime spent
to perfecting one great mas-
terpiece,” Mrs. Shepard re-
minded members.
During the social hour, mem-
bers enjoyed an art display of
the Bryson School’s first and
second grade students. The
teachers, Mrs. Merwin Turner
and Eugene Davis collected art
work of the students’ during the
year.
