Four Texans have been named among the
50 most effective community college lead-
ers in America in a survey conducted by two
University of Texas professors and by a
researcher at Mount Royal College, Can-
ada. They are: Raymond Hawkins, Tyler
Junior College; Jan LeCroy, Dallas
County Community College District; Jess
Parrish, Midland College; and the late
Stewart MacLaurin, Kilgore College.
Navarro College's new President is Gerald
Burson. He had served as Vice President
and Dean of Instruction at Northern Okla-
homa College for 22 years.
Jim Worden, Dean of Instruction at Tarrant
County Junior College's South Campus,
was named that campus' new President,
effective July 1, He replaced Charles
McKinney who retired in April.3
Cecil Groves was named Chancellor of
theexas State Technical Institute, effec-
tive February 15. He had served as Presi-
dent of Pikes Peak Community College in
Colorado since July 1985.
Don Goodwin is the new President of
Texas State Technical Institute-Waco,
effective June 13. He had served as Vice
Chancellor for Educational Services since
April 1 and, prior to that, as Vice President
for instructional Services at Pikes Peak
Community College in Colorado.
The National Association of Community
College Trustees has named Austin Com-
munity College President Dan Angel as
Western Regional Chief Executive Officer.
