'92 Vocational Education Awards (Continued from page 1)
Fort Worth insurance executive,
himself a former vocational stu-
dent, served as master of cere-
monies.
Postsecondary Awards.
Kari Kay Kuenemann, a sopho-
more dental hygiene student at
Tyler Junior College, was hon-
ored as the Outstanding
Postsecondary Student Award
winner. The finalists were Robin
Brown, Baytown, a medical rec-
ord technology sophomore at
Lee College, and Roxanne Ra-
chwitz, Killeen, a sophomore
office administration major at
Central Texas College.
Disabled Awards. Media
technology student Hector Re-
quenez, Edinburg, a senior at
Edinburg High School, was hon-
ored as the Outstanding Disabled
Student Award winner. Final-
ists were Cesar Delgado, El
Paso, a senior vocational educa-
tion for the handicapped office
clerical student at Socorro High
School, and Jonathan "Tex"
Posch, Converse, a 12th grade
agriculture science student at
Judson High School.
Special Achievement
Awards. Donja Stewart,
Beaumont, a food production,
management and services stu-
dent at the Beaumont School
District Career Center, was hon-
ored as the winner of the Out-
standing Special Achievement
StudentAward. Award finalists
were Cynthia Acosta, Edinburg,
a senior cosmetology student at
Edinburg High School, and De-
bra J. Miller, Killeen, a sopho-
more office management major
at Central Texas College.
Business/Education Part-
nershipA wards. The 1992 Busi-
ness/Education Partnership
Award winner was Solo Serve
for its partnership with several
school districts in the San Anto-
nio area, including the Judson
School District which nominated
it. Finalists were ALCOA, Rock-
dale, for its partnership with the
Texas State Technical College
Waco Campus, and Ryder Air-
line Services, Dallas, for its part-
nership with the entire TSTC
System as well as other colleges.Advisory Committee
Awards. The Spring Branch
School District Advisory Board
for Occupational-Technical Edu-
cation, Houston, was honored
as the Exemplary Advisory
Committee Award winner.
Spring Branch had been a final-
ist for this award on two previous
occasions.
This year's finalists were the
Dallas County Community Col-
lege District Edmund J. Kahn
Job Training Center's Office
Careers Advisory Committee,
Dallas, and the Ysleta School
District Home Economics Co-op
Education Advisory Committee,
El Paso.
Alumni Awards. William
Eugene Tucker, Austin, a voca-
tional nursing graduate from
Austin Community College and
currently branch manager forThe
Care Group, was honored as the
winner of the Outstanding Voca-
tional Education Alumni Award,
presented for the first time as a
part of the 1992 awards program.
Finalists in this category
were Blye Engel Dollahite,
Blanco, a home economics
alumni from Blanco High School,
who is currently the Assistant
Headstart Director and Educa-
tion Coordinator for Community
Action, Inc., and Priscilla Dowlen,
Baytown, a Lee College nursing
graduate, who is director of The
Center for Hospice Care.
