Spellman Museum of Forney History
The Spellman Museum was founded in September 2001 by the Forney Historic Preservation League (FHPL). Mick Spellman donated many of his family’s items to the collection including household items, WWII artifacts and some of the paintings, sketches, and drawings created by his sister, artist Coreen Spellman. The museum’s focus is the history of Forney and the surrounding area from pre-history to post-WWII. Originally on the 2nd floor of the City Hall building, the museum is home to a number of artifacts and photographs that reflect the history of Forney, TX. Topics include Native Americans, wildlife, early settlers, the agricultural industry, the Great Depression, and more. We renovated two downtown historic buildings, 200 and 202 S. Bois d’Arc Street, to house the collection and new exhibits plus provide additional space to host meetings and events.
