Sueltenfuss Library at Our Lady of the Lake University

The Sueltenfuss Library at Our Lady of the Lake University contributes material from its Special Collections. The special collections include a Texana Collection of nearly 1300 books covering the history, culture, and institutions of Texas from the Spanish colonial period to the late 20th century; rare books including liturgical and theological texts from the 15th to the 18th century; several rare Mexican songbooks; books covering the history, laws, language, society, and culture of Hispanic America during the Spanish colonial period; and rare serials and ephemera.

The Chicano Times

The Chicano Times was a newspaper published in San Antonio from 1970 to 1977, focusing on Mexican American people, events, and issues. In 1972 it absorbed a similar paper published in Dallas called Chicano, and in 1977 it merged with another San Antonio newspaper (Westsider) to form the short-lived Chicano Times the Westsider. The Chicano Times is a rich resource for documenting the history and social concerns of Mexican American people in the San Antonio area during the turbulent 1970s.

Old Spanish Missions Historical Research Library Microfilm Collection Indexes

The “Old Spanish Missions Historical Research Library Microfilm Collection Indexes” consists of indexes created by Rosalind Rock of the National Park Service, and by Carlos Castañeda. The indexes pertain to microfilmed 18th century handwritten documents from the Franciscan Archives of the Convents of Querétaro, Celaya, and Zacatecas, focusing on the missions of San Antonio and elsewhere in Texas, as well as microfilmed documents from the Archivo Municipal del Saltillo and other archives in Mexico and Spain. The indexes contain an inventory of names, places, and topics, organized by reel and in most cases by frame range, to assist researchers to locate the exact location within the microfilmed documents that they wish to view. Researchers are encouraged to contact Our Lady of the Lake University for access to the original microfilmed images.
