Wise County Messenger
Established in 1880, the Wise County Messenger is one of Wise County’s oldest business institutions, continuing publication today. The Wise County Messenger services the city of Decatur, the county seat of Wise County. From the late 1800s to the early 1900s, the Messenger was a staunch competitor to the Decatur News. In 1935, the two newspaper titles merged under the Messenger, which continues in weekly publication as the newspaper of record for Wise County.
