About the Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus
The Texas Stonewall Democratic Caucus has a connection with the larger group, the National Stonewall Democrats, as well as the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas. Al Daniels was the treasurer (1999-2010) for this organization which represents the LGBT community through its meetings, conferences, and lobbying before local and state governments. The group networks through various LGBT-related functions and through meetings with the Democratic Party, with which it is affiliated. The Stonewall name comes from events that happened at the Stonewall Inn on June 27th, 1969, in New York. Stonewall is considered to be the beginning of the LGBT civil rights movement in the United States, and the group's name is reflective of this.
