Sayles and Sayles Collection
This collection contains first-hand records of land transactions, early ranching, oil and gas exploration, and shortline railroad development in Abilene, Texas, and the surrounding West Texas region at the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century. The items come from the Sayles and Sayles law firm in Abilene, founded in 1886, as well as from the business interests and personal correspondence of four generations of the Sayles family. Also included are legal documents, financial records, and ephemera.
