Randy Mallory Papers
The collection consists of selections from the Randy Mallory Papers, containing photographs, notes, research, and completed work with the Texas Highways magazine.
About the Physical Collection
This collection contains the slides, negatives, contracts, drafts, notes and research materials of Randy Mallory from his work with Texas Highways magazine and the Texas Historical Commission. The subjects of both publications range from historical research, leisure activities, and local celebrations that welcome people from all over the state. The materials span decades, as well as Texas, and some are even revisited again years later. The photographs in this collection are of both people and places that Mallory has visited across the state. There are slides, negatives, color positives, prints of other photographers' work, and digital materials. Some of the photographic materials include notes on how they should be edited for printing in the magazine while the majority are arranged in the order of when they were shot. The papers in this collection include correspondence between Mallory and the people he is contacting for research or questions about articles for Texas Highways, his Writer's Agreements with Texas Highways, photo release forms for photos taken for the Texas Historical Commission, drafts, notes, and other research materials. These items include brochures, menus, guides, newsletters, newspapers and clippings, and copies of articles that Mallory used for research. Included in the collection are copies of the informational brochures Mallory contributed to for the Texas Historical Commission and a selection of Texas Highways magazines showcasing Mallory's work in its final format.
