Refugio County Newspaper Collection
About the Collection
Situated on the coast on the north bank of the Mission River, Refugio has been home to multiple newspaper titles since 1895. The Refugio area has sheltered many groups of settlers, and in 1836 it was the site of the Battle of Refugio during the Texas Revolution. Digitization was made possible by a Tocker Foundation grant.
