Richard Doherty Photography Collection

This collection contains the photographic work of Richard Doherty from the 1970s to present day. Included are images of the people of Jefferson Boulevard and Oak Cliff in Dallas, Chicago, Fayetteville, Arkansas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which document the lives and places known to the photographer throughout his career. Photographs of residential areas such as streets, stores, apartments, and neighborhoods form the bulk of the collection, urging the viewer to take a deeper look into everyday architecture and surroundings as seen through the photographer’s perspective.

Biographical Note

Richard Doherty is a photographer who is an Emeritus Professor since 2016 of Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, where he taught for 34 years. He received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received his BA from the University of Arkansas in Psychology. Doherty’s subject matter consists of panoramas of street scenes with people, urban architecture and housing around areas such as Oak Cliff in Dallas, Chicago, Baton Rouge, Fort Worth and his own native Arkansas (Fayetteville).
