Lloyd Jones Aerial Photograph Collection
This collection contains images of the businesses and land of the West Texas region around Abilene, Texas. Primarily commissioned by oil drilling companies and land developers, these photographs taken by Abilene commercial photographer Lloyd Jones (1919-1992) document the development of Abilene after 1950—detailing land use in this semi-arid region of Texas. The collection chronicles business development in Abilene as well as churches, schools, and universities in town. Schools specifically represented in the collection are McMurry University, Abilene Christian University, and Abilene High School.
