The Huntsville Item
About the Collection
The Huntsville Item was founded in 1850, succeeding the Texas Banner. It began as a weekly paper, published every Saturday morning. The Item is one of the oldest continuously published newspapers in Texas and is still in print today. The Item's presses also print college newspapers: the Battalion of Texas A&M and the Houstonian of Sam Houston State University.
