Frances Marion Allen Collection

The collection of Frances Marion Allen, a longtime resident of Fort Worth who died in 1997, contains material collected by herself, her parents, James Walter Allen, M.D. and Daisy Emery Allen, M.D., and her sister, Sheila Emery Allen. The Allen Family settled in Tarrant County in the 1850s. Sisters Frances and Sheila Allen donated the Allen Cabin in White Settlement to that municipality. Their mother, Daisy, was the first woman medical school graduate in Texas, graduating from Fort Worth Medical College in 1897. The Frances Allen Collection focuses on the Allen and Emery families, early Tarrant County land holdings, medical practice, music and education. The collection contains numerous photographs and correspondence dating from the mid-19th century to the late-20th century.
