About the Physical Collection
The collection contains materials surrounding Craig McDaniel’s campaigns and terms in office as a Dallas City Councilman for District 14 between 1993 and 1997. McDaniel, the first openly gay Dallas City Councilmember, ran twice against conservative candidate, Sharon Boyd, whose 1993 campaign was subject to mail fraud and redistricting. Papers (including letters, speeches, campaign financial reports), newspaper clippings, photographs, artifacts, and campaign ephemera are part of this collection.
