Obituaries
BANKERT
Rev Albert H. Bankert, 95,
died Thursday, Feb 11, in a local
hospital.
Rev Bankert was born Oct. 27,
1897 in Swickley Township,
Pennsylvania. He was a Method-
ist minister from 1932 to 1964,
starting his ministry at Coker
Community Church in San Anto-
nio. Rev. Bankert had lived in this
area since 1961 and served in
churches in Rockport, Aransas
Pass, Ingleside, Port Lavaca, Cor-
pus Christi and San Benito.
He served in the U S. Calvary
during World War I.
Rev. Bankert was preceded in
death in 1991 by his wife of 72
years, Mattie Sue Bankert
Survivors include two daugh-
ters, Betty Malltry of Port Aran-
sas and Virginia Findley Connell
of Bandera; a sister, Myrtle Bank-
ert Landsperger of Greensburg,
Penn.; grandchildren, Joyce Ken-
nedy of Orange and Richard Find-
ley of Billings, Montana; four
great-grandchildren; and numer-
ous nieces and nephews
Funeral services were held at 2
p.m. Saturday at First United
Methodist Church with burial fol-
lowing in Seaside Memorial Park,
Corpus Christi.
Expressions of sympathy may
be made by donations to the First
United Methodist Church, 523 S.
8th St.. Aransas Pass, Tx. 78336
or a favorite charity.

MOTHERSHED
Billie Nell Mothershed, 64, died
Thursday, Feb. 11, at her resi-
dence after a long illness.
Mrs. Mothershed was bom Dec
17, 1928. A lifelong resident of
Aransas Pass she was a member of
First Baptist Church. She was a
secretary for the Aransas Pass In-
dependent School District for 27
years. In the school system, she
was active in the Aransas Pass
High School Athletic Department
and Booster Club and the A.C.
Blunt Middle School annual was
dedicated to her. She was a mem-
ber of the Aransas Pass Alumni
Association.
Survivors include two sons,
John Mothershed and Jerry
Mothershed, both of Aransas
Pass; a sister, Betty Ann Guinn of
Houston; five grandchildren; a
niece and a nephew.
Funeral services were held at
4:30 p m. Sunday at Charlie Mar-
shall Funeral Home Chapel with
Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Bu-
rial followed in Prairie View
Cemetery.
Book fair opens Feb. 26th
at Leon Taylor Junior High
The Leon Taylor Junior High
School Library will sponsor a stu-
dent book fair Feb. 24-26 and will
have it open March 1 from 6-8
p.m. Students will be able to
browse and purchase books.
The book fair will be open dur-
ing the school hours of 8 a.m.
until 3:45 p.m. All students, pa-
rents and visitors are invited to
attend the fair. The book fair will
encourage student interest in
reading and in building home lib-
raries. All proceeds will be used
for additional books or other lib-
rary materials.
