BURGLARS ENTER ORR
WHOLESALE GROCERY
Some time Tuesday night burglars
entered the Orr Wholesale Grocery
company building here and took quite
a quantity of tobacco and cigars.
Without making a close check of the
stock, it was estimated that about
$300 worth of iperchandise was taken.
The building was entered by bor-
ing twenty-three inch holes in the
lower part of the back door and
swinging it back and then crawling
into the building. The back door had
a large wooden bar across it in ad-
dition to the lock and one hole was
bored just under the lock and the
wooden bar was struck. They then
dropped down under the lock and
used an inch bit to bore the holes
across the door. A truck was evi-
dently used to carry off the merchan-
dise.

MYSTERY OF BARROW AUTO
LICENSE NUMBER CLEARED
(Temple Telegram)
Not long ago telephone calls from
Lampasas requested that Sheriff
George Zivley, Temple officers and
others be on guard against three per-
sons suspected of being Barrow, Bon-
nie and company, who were driving
east in a V-8 Ford coupe with a li-
cense number 196-517.
Yesterday Temple officers were
aroused when they saw the same car
parked in front of the First National
bank with two men in it. Before
they could do anything about, the car
backed out and drove off. It was
seen later in front of Lugo’s—this
time with a man and two women.
Officers Clarence Aiken and John
Guinn approached the car, introduced
themselves and found out that the
driver and owner of the car was
Frank Ripple of San Angelo who is
here with his three daughters, one
of whom is in a Temple hospital.
Notice of the car’s license number
has been sent to every police de-
partment in Texas, Chief of Police
Sam Hall said yesterday. Notice of
its inaccuracy will be sent out imme-
diately to protect the Ripple family
against possible attacks by officers
or citizens aroused against Barrow.
Mr. Ripple told officers that there
should be something done about it
because, like most any other citizen,
he would attempt to run off from
hijackers and thereby double suspi-
cion against him in a chase given by
officers.
Mrs. W. J. Fox has returned to
her home after several weeks spent
visiting friends and relatives in San
Angelo, Ozona and Christoval.
Miss Mary Lee White is visiting
Mrs. John Worthington in Lometa.
Mesdames Tom Richey, Charles
Wachendorfer, M. M. Landrum and
Harry Key, were in Belton Wednes-
day attending the district nine Par-
ent-Teacher convention.
