Assesaor-Collector’s office yester-
day as the deadline approached for
the purchase of automobile license
plates prior to April 1. After that
date, mil automobiles in Texas must
have new license plates or pay a
penalty.
Kelly Jones, Tax Assessor-Col-
lector, reported yesterday that
2,424 auto tags had been sold in
Graham. This figure does not in-
clude Ohtey and Newcastle sales.

Mrs. Jennie Wren will hold a form-
al opening of the Dairy Best Ice
Cream Drive-In, 1210 East Fourtn
Street Saturday afternoon, April
1.- The new self service Ice Cream
Drive-In is East Fourth Street’s
newest business. Mr. Msrtin an-
nounced diet they would feature
froien custard, iee cream, and
malts. Free ice cream cones will
be served from 2 p. m. to 3:30
p. m. Saturday, April 1.
The owners are former residents
of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Mr. and
Mrs. Martin have one son, Roger,
who io a sophomore in Graham
High School. Mrs. Wren’s son, Ed-
die, is currently stationed on the
USS Kaskaskie. He will receive
his discharge Juno 1 and will com*
to Graham to make his home.

Trustees for the Graham Indepen-
dent School District were present
for a special meeting Wednesday
( afternoon which was called to be-
| gin work on the finances for fin-
ishing the current session <Sf school
and to appoint a committee to set
up the time warrants and negoti-
ate for their sale. T. A. Wright,
president of the board, Ben An-
drews, and E. W. Harrison are
serving on a special committee to
negotiate for the sale of the time
warrants.
Bob Tyler, Clint Rutherford,
and E. S. Graham, Jr., will serve
on a committee tp work on the
equgRpation of property through-
out the school district. —
A petition was read to the board
from Murray- citizens requesting
that they retain the one-teacher
school at Murray. The board voted
-to accept the petition providing
"that1 the school district has enough
teachers next year.
