MUSIC CLUB PRESENTS

A program of unusual diatinctioa
While tn Mineral] wag premmted by the Graham Music
Club last Thursday evening at the
First Methodist Church. The pro-
gram, which was open to the- public,
had been planned as a tribute to
the memory of FYanz Schubert and
only Schubert compositions were ren-
dered.
The program opened with a beauti-
ful organ prelude, “March in b
minor”, played by Miss Mattie Queen
Price. An invocation was worded
by Rev. R. C. Edwards, after which
Mrs. Frances Miller Crenshaw gave
a vividly interesting sketch of the
life of Schubert. The great
poser’s career wa* traced from his
childhood, when he was an import-
ant member of da orchestra, through
yearn trf prolific composition to his
death as a young man.
Two choral numbers mere includ-
ed on the program, those being
"Hark! Harkl The Lark!” and Sere-
nade". Other vocal numbers in-
cluded; “Du bist die ftph" and
"Abode”, sung by Mrs. H. M. Tebay;
“Who is Sylvia 7", aeag by Mrs. W.
J. Gruby; “The Linden Tree*,
