Cm OF A BILES E, TEXAS
AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF CITY ELECTRICIAN AND REGULATING
ELECTRICIANS AI D REGULATING TIE INSTALMENT OF ELECTRIC AL WIRES AND
FIXTURES IN THE CITY OF ABILENE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BO A HD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
ABILENE*
SECTION IS That there be and is hereby created the office of
City Electrician which shall be filled by some suitable person,
who is a qualified nd competent electrician, said officer shall
be appointed in the manner and at the time provided by the City
Charter fer the ppaintxaent of officers.
SECT ION tilt Tlr t said City Electrician shall perform all duties
required of him by the Ch rter and onain nces of the City of Abilene,
and before enter lag upon said duties of his office, shall subscribe
to the o?ith required by he constitution ond shall execute and de-
liver to the City of Abilene a bond in the sum of One Thousand
( 1,000.00) Dollars, payable to The City of fbilme at Abilene,
Texas, conditioned for the faithfU 1 performance of the duties of
his office as prescribed by the Charter and the Ordinances of The
City of Abilene now in existence or that may hereafter be passed.
SECTION Ills That the City Electrician nd his assistants be,
arid hereby are authorized, empowered and directed to regul te and
supervise generally all electrical apparatus and machinery and the
stringing,attaching and placing of electric lights and power, tele-
phone, telegraph and 11 other electrical wires of any nature what-
soever now or hereafter placed in, or in any manner directly at-
tached to any building or any tent or similar structure In The
City of Abilene, and to inspect snd reinspect all such electrical
apparatus, machinery and wires which they consider to be of suf-
ficient importance or hazard to require such inspections, so as to
prevent fires, accidents or injuries to persons or property and to
cause all such electrical apparatus, machinery and wires now ex-
tending or hereafter placed shall be subject to such Inspection
and supervision,
SECTION IV* Th© following fees shall be paid by the person,
firm or corporation doing the electrical work which the said City
-Electrician is called upon to inspect, shall be p‘ id, to the said
City Electrician before the certificate is issued covering x the
work inspected as thereinafter provided,
