Meetings of the Joshua
City Council take place on
the third Thursday of each
month in the council
chambers at City Hall. The
work session begins at
6:30 p.m. and the regular
meeting follows at 7 p.m.
It is unclear whether
pitchers and catchers have
reported, but soon opening
day will take place for the
Joshua Baseball and Soft-
ball Association.
The first pitch of the sea-
son will take place March
26 at the new fields at the
city park.
Concessions will be
open and the first games of
the season will be played.

ized and additional activi-
ties are in the planning pro-
cess.

meetings cancelled
The city has cancelled
Type A and B economic
development commission
meetings for March. The
boards are next scheduled to
meet in early April.
Candidate filing
deadline March 14
An election to fill two
City Council seats has been
called for May 14.
Filing is open for the
three-year expired term for
Place 2 and the remaining
two years for the unexpired
term of Place 1.
Glen Walden holds
the Place 2 seat. Noelyn
“Butch” Isom has resigned
his Place 1 seat and will
serve until his successor is
selected by voters.
Candidate packets are
available at City Hall, 101 S.
Main. The deadline for fil-
ing for a place on the ballot
is March 14.
Walden has filed for
re-election to his seat and
planning and zoning com-
mission member Gary
Smith has filed for Place 1.
The last day to register
to vote for the May 14 elec-
tion is April 14. If you are
not sure if you are a regis-
tered voter, call the John-
son County elections office
at 817-556-6197.
Early voting will take
place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday, May 2-Tuesday,
May 10, at City Hall. Early
voting extended hours will
be offered from 7 a.m.-
7 p.m. Wednesday, May
4-Thursday, May 5.
Election Day voting will
take place from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
at the Joshua Community
Room, 907 S. Broadway.

City cleanup set
for March 25-27
The city’s spring clean-
up has been scheduled for
March 25-27.
Gates will be open from
7 a.m.-7 p.m. all three days.
Residents will be required to
show proof of residency.
Residents are reminded
that they may not drop off
chemicals, paint, car parts
and appliances with a com-
pressor. Tires and batteries
have a $5 disposal charge.
Persons should enter off of
6th St. to drop off debris.
Softball benefit for
JPD Officer Mazey
The benefit softball fund-
raiser for Officer Zach Mazey
will take place Saturday at
the park. Games start at 9
a.m. between area police and
fire departments.

Residents interested in
mulch can pick it up at no
charge at the city’s public
works facility.
