"Mardi Gras” Is
McAdoo Theme
Jr.-Sr. Banquet
The McAdoo annual Junior-
Senior banquet was held Friday
April 24, at 8 p.m. at the Dyess
Tearoom in Spur.
In honoring the seniors, the
juniors used the “Mardi Gras”
theme, since the seniors are plan-
ning a tripr to New Orleans. Red
and gold were the colors used in
decorating the serving tables.
Colored balloons, peppermint
carnations with red candles
sprayed with gold glitter and fea-
turing red net ruffles were plac-
ed on each table.
Four sophomore girls, Cleta
Griffin, Linda Powers, Natalie
Neff and Joann Gregory, served
the meal.
Eldon Williams gave the invo-
cation. Roy Lee Neff gave the
welcu.ne. The response was
made by Sammy Brown. Marcy
Smolen gave the senior class
prophecy. Bobby Teague gave the
class will.
Seniors attending were Sam-
my Brown, Bill McWilliams, Lar-
ry Marris, Johnny Powers, Jess
Blackwell, Bobby Teague, Sher-
ry Bclaska, Carrie Robinson, Jer-
ry Johnson and Ceamon Scott.
Juniors attending were Marcy
Smolen, Martha Moore, Margaret
Young. Roy Lee Neff, Johnny
Faubus and James Earl Van Met-
er.

Plan Programs for
Year at Meeting
The Young Homemakers Club
met Wednesday afternoon, April
22, in the homemaking cottage.
The programs for the year were
planned and accepted.
The project committee mem-
bers are Mrs. Donnie Berry and
Mrs. Donald Harris. On the year-
book committee are Mrs. Ellis
Power and Mrs. Ray Dickinson
and entertainment, Mrs. H. F.
Harris,
The homomaking girls baby
sat for the mothers.
Refreshments of cookies ana
punch were served by Mrs. H. F.
Harris and Mrs. Bill Young.
The next meeting will be May
13 it the homemaking cottage
with Mrs. Martin Pope, County
health nurse giving the program
on first aid.
There will be an Area I field
day at the South PJains Electric
building in Lubbock on May 15.
All members are urged to attend.
Miss Nancy Kay Smith, bride-
elect of Larry Alvin Ogle, was
honored with a miscellaneous
bridal shower Saturday, April 25,
in the home of Mrs. Irvin Stegall.

The honoree was presented a
blue corsage accented with a
miniature bride- and bridegroom.
The serving table was covered
with a white lace table cloth ove»
blue, the bride-elect's chosen
colors. An artificial arrangement
of blue of and white flowers cen-
tered the table. Blue and white
iced thumbprint cookies, punch
and mints were served from cry-
stal appointments by Misses
Nan Allen and Linda Lou Flow-
ers. Miss Judy Davis presided at
the guest book.
Hostess gift was a mixer.
Hostesses were Mrs. Lee Suth-
er, Mrs. Duane McClure, Mrs.
Clyde Davis, Mrs. Austin Steen,
Mrs. Royce Smith, Mrs. Carson
Hicks of Lorenzo, Mrs. Burt

Approximately 60 guests cdlled
during the afternoon.
Mrs. E. E. Medlock attended
the Caprock Council Girl Scouts
organization meeting in Lubbock
Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Karr and
Kelly of Crosbyton and Mrs. Ro-
wena Posey of Hereford visited
last weekend at Leroy with Mr.
and Mrs. Claude Higginbotham.
They returned by Fort Worth
where they visited the Roy Karrs.

Hints for HD Club
The Mt. Blanco Home Demon-
stration Club had a demonstra-
tion on cake decorating given by
Mrs. George Griffin at their
meeting Thursday in the home of
Mrs. C. F. Flemins.
Next meeting of the club will
be Thursday, May 14, when the
group will go to the South
Plains Electric Cooperative in
Lubbock for an ail day meeting.
The session begins at 10 a.m.,
included a covered dish lunch-
eon, and will close at 2:30 p.m.

Funds for Activities
Local Senior Girl Scouts will
hold a “Slave Day” Saturday to
raise funds for Scouting activi-
ties.

Cleans Trash From
City Park Tuesday
Cub Scout Den 6 picked up
trash in the City Park at their
meeting Tuesday afternoon. The
clean-up session was part of the
troop s study on naiure and con-
servation for this month.
Cubs taking part Were David
Brixey, Heber Caskey, Kelly Ho-
gan ,Bob Adams, John Cherry,
Brint Suther and Lee Krai. Mrs.
Bob Krai is Den Leader and she
was assisted by Mrs. Lee Suther.

Area Baptist Youth
To Participate In
Rally at Sand Hill
The Caprock Associational
Youth Rally will be held at the
First Baptist Church of Sand Hill,
Texas, Sunday, May 3. The Texas
Tech Baptist Student Union is in
charge.
Bill Golightly, senior from Tex-
as Tech, will be the speaker. He
was Baptist Student Union sum-
mer missionary to the Japanese
Crusade. He plans to enter the
semiriary in the fall.
Pat Greever, senior Tech stu-
dent from McAllen, will lead the
singing. Richard Hollingsworth,
junior, will lead the fellowship.
Hollingsworth will go to Alaska
this summer with the Home Mis-
sion Board as summer mission-
ary. Carol Cox will bring the
special music and Barbara Shipp
will be the pianist.
Churches in the Caprock As-
sociation, including Crosbyton
First Baptist, Mt. Blanco Baptist,
Pansy Baptist, and El Calvario
Baptist Mission, will participate.
The youth of the First Baptist
Church of Crosbyton will eat at
the church Sunday and leave for
the Youth Rally at 1:30 p.m. A-
dults are welcome to attend.
Seventh Birthday
Celebrated Thurs.

honored with a party celebrating
his seventh birthday at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tan
Cornelius, Thursday afternoon.

Guild Adjudicator
For Piano Students
Samuel Pendleton, formerly of
California and now residing in
Lubbock, served as adjudicator
for the 1964 National Piano
Playing auditions here April 15
in which 20 students of Mrs.
Louis Catuogno participated.
Pendleton, who judged here in
1959, is now on a judging tour to
Indiana and Kentucky.
. Piano students playing in the
preparatory division were Bar-
bara Rales, Kitty Joyce Moore,
Diane Wood, Melinda Reeves,
Sylvia Curry, Judy Brixey.
In the intermediate division
were Cathy Jungl Jan Stockton,
Lou Ann Flournoy, Janie Brown,
Brenda Kay Brashear, Phyllis
Brixey, Alexa Medlock and Mar-
sha Rich.
Elementary division students
who auditioned were Kenneth
Brashear, Richelle McSpadden,
Cynthia Mitchell, Gwen Self,
Janfy Snodgrass and Trudy Witt.
Mrs. Catuogno announced that
her students will be presented in
a recital Friday, May 8, at the
elementary auditorium. Students
in the lower grades will perform
at 7 p m. Junior and Senior High
students will play at 8 p.m. A
recognition service for the stu-
dents will be held following
each division.
The public is invited to attend
the recital.
