Ills Trip to Germany.
John B. Brandenburg, a recent grad-
uate of the pharmacy department of the
State Medical School, at Galveston, in j
speaking of his trip to Germany, to a j
News reporter, said:
"When I arrived in Germany the |
people all commented on my pale looks,
but, when I had stayed a while and en- j
joyed Germany's bracing climate, I be j
gan to attain the red, healthy look, so j
common to the people of that country. |
"One feels considerably more energetic j
there than here, which is attributed to j
the climate.
"One noticeable feature is. the soldier I
of the standing army of Luxemburg,
which forms a part of the great militia i
force of Germany.
"In coming home, we were eleven days j
crossing the Atlantic, and three day's j
from New York here."
The City of Denton Forces the Laundry to
Clone i tB Doors and Cease huhi
ne»H—Case Carried to the
County Court.
Much has been said about the C. R.
Ingram trial, and up to going to press
yesterday the case was still in the hands
of the court, and until about 6 o'clock
the jury had not rendered a verdict.
After the verdict was turned in the
court saw proper to close the laundry
down temporarily.
The jury imposed a fine of If5 aud
costs, making a total cost of $ . .
The case has been transferred to the
county court and will appear before
Judge Ferguson at the next term of the
court.
The closing down of the laundry will
throw about ten employes out of work.
Mr. Ingram has made arrangements
to have his work done by another laun-
dry, and will be pleased to have his old
customers continue to give him their
work.

From nary to John.
Dear john:—I have Some news to tell you. ' Mf. J. L. Parker
has opened up the loveliest grocery store in the May building, on the
northeast corner of the square, where I used to meet you after school.
Mr. Mercer is with him and you know what that means. I think Mr.
Mercer is the whole thing when it comes to ordering nice coffees and
teas. The new store is called "The Market," and-I atm going Lo trade
there all the time. They didn't buy a horrid old job lot, but everything
they've got is perfectly fresh except the prunes and you know they
have to be dried. Since It has been so windy and disagreeable I don't
go out to the store, but send Josephine and the little colored girl,
and Mr. Parker and Mr. Mercer never work off fly-specked stuff on
them. Write soon and Send me a V or two. Your wife,
MARY.

A communication came to hand today
for publication and the party had
failed to sign his name. It is positively
against the rale of any well regulated
newspaper to print any article or query
by unknown writers. The SUBSCRIBER
will please send in his name and the an-
swer will be in print. We will with-
hold the name bat it is necessary that
we be in posession of it.
The city of Denton is becoming a city
very fast, and it will be of great import-
ance to begin to make ready for the
rush. We need considerable work 011
our sewerage system, we need a street
sprinkler, streets lighted up, better side
walks, good street crossings, and, in
fact, we must wake up to the fact that
Denton is 110 longer a little, out-of-the-
way place, but she is tha best little city
in north Texas.
