Dr. B. F. Riley remained over In
Brvan from his lecture here on Fri
day night and preached at the First
Haptlst church Sunday at morning and
evening services. Both of hi ermons
were plain eiposltlon of the script-
ure told in language o simple that
a child could understand the great
tnith dlcued. They were helpful
and uplifting to all who bearJ them
and one and all came away with high-
er resolves and notder purpose.
At night the sermon wa especially
fine using as a subject. "B.-llef. the
essential for Salvation." The text was
the conversion of the Jailer and hi
household when Paul and Silas prayed
and the prison doors were opened. He
gave particular stress to the simplic-
ity of belief and he put It In a light
plainer and aimpler than any had ever
heard It before.
Dr. Riley returned to hi home In
Italia. on Sunday night.
