Sister Florence Mae (Brown was born to Mamie (j lover SneedandAndersonSneed, Sr.
on 9{pvember 6,1906 in San Marcos, T'e^as.
She attended the public schools of San Marcos. The family moved to Austin where she
compCeted high school. She graduated from Crescent (Beauty School in Austin and, for
many years, ozoned and operated a Beauty shop.
In 1944, she received a (B. S. degree from TUlotson College, Austin, and was very
faithful member of the lUlotson Alumni Association untd her health failed. She Began
her public school teaching career in Austin.
In 19SO, Sister 'Brozim completed a nurses course in San francisco, California where
she worked for nine years.
Upon her return to Te^as, she attended9{icks (Beauty School in San Antonio where she
again became a beauty shop owner and operator for many years. She also resumed her
public school teaching career in the SAISCD where she taught for ten years.
She was married to Sylvester 'Ellis and to this union one son was born. O-ler husband
preceded her in death, and in 1952, she married Julius (Brown, who also preceded her in
death. 9~ler parents, two sisters, and a brother also preceded her in death.
from the time she accepted Christ in her life as a child, she has always been a very active
participant in the church of her membership. She united with the Mount (jilead (Baptist
Church on August 17,19 75 and was a very active part of the fellowship untd her death.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Willie Ed 'Ellis, and daughter-in-law, Essie
Mae Ellis, Austin; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchddren, and nine great-great
grandchildren; a loyal, devoted sister, ViirianSneed; a brother, Woodrow Sneed; a devoted
neighbor, Odarry Strickland; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
