USS HORNET (CVS-12) (FH-

Class Allen R. Emmons, USN,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
R. Emmons of Eliasville, has
returned to Long Beach, Cali-
fornia aboard the anti-subma-
rine warfare support aircraft
carrier USS Hornet, after com-
pleting more than seven months
in the South China Sea off the
Coast of Vietnam with the Sev-
enth Fleet.
Hornet provided the Seventh
Fleet with anti-submarine de-
fense and search and rescue
services.
He was awarded the Vietnam
Service Medal for his partici-
pation in the Vietnam war
against the communist guerril-
las.
Enroute to Long Beach, Hor-
net visited Iwo Jima and Syd-
ney Australia.

dents are attending the Texas
State student Council Conven-
tion at L.D. Bell High School in
Hurst, March 24-26.
David Robertson, president-
elect for the local organization,
will lead a discussion group
on parliamentary procedure.

Davis, Vicki Gough, Jo Beth
Scott, and David Robertson.

Master Guy McMahan of Fort
Worth has been visiting his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Evans.
Mrs. Lee Roy Atchison Just
returned home from El Paso
where she went to be with her
daughter, Miss Helen Atchison,
who took sick and was admitted
to the hospital March 6. She
was able to begin teaching
March 17 again.
Mrs. Jean Vaughn and chil-
dren from Abilene visited Mrs.
Mary Poindexter.
Mrs. Alice Reah from Sey-
mour visited relatives here last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mar-
shall of Canyon and Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Donnell of Mur-
ray visited the Louis Donnell’s
Sunday afternoon. Louis Don-
nell, Jr., and friend of Shep-
pard Air Force, Wichita Falls,
were home over the weekend.

Wes-Mor Drilling Inc., Gra-
ham, has completed its No. 2
W. F. Whittenburg, Lease No.
3, as a Young County Bend
Conglomerate oil discovery in
the Southwest Bunger Field.
During 24-hour test the well
flowed 144 barrels of 41 grav-
ity crude through 12-64-inch
choke from two perforations at
3904-05 feet with packer on
casing and 600 pounds tubing
pressure. Gas-oil ratio was
350-1. Completion was on nat-
ural flow.
The 4-1/2 inch production
string was landed one foot above
bottom at 4031 feet.
Discovery is 2-1/2 miles
southwest of Bunger, J. B. Whit-
tenburg survey A-2255.
Suggested names for the new
pay are Hunger, Southwest (3890
Bend Conglomerate) Field, or
Wes (3890 Bend Conglomerate)
Field or Mor (3890 Bend Con-
glomerate) Field.
