One of the major questions being are asked by
officials concerning the case is, "How exactly was
Pickering killed?”
According to Sheriff Parker, when a man is
struck by an auto, there is damage to the legs and
hips of the victim. In Pickering's case the only
breakage of bones was to the ribs and skull.
This evidence brings another question to light.
Was Pickering lying down when he was struck, and
if so, why?
An autopsy report states that there was no
sign of drugs or alcohol in the bloodstream, leading
officials to assume that Pickering was not uncon-
scious at the time he was killed.

t In the early Saturday morning of Oct. 6, Joe
Lynn Pickering, 20 of Rt. 5, Box 1310, Cleveland,
was the victim of an alleged hit and run accident on
Meekins Road near Cleveland.
Since that night, officials from three different
jaw enforcement agencies have been pondering
many unanswered questions surrounding the in-
}estigation.
: Pickering''s body was discovered lying in the
east bound lane of Meekins road only a few miles
from his home by a passing motorist.
The discovery was made approximately mid-
pight shortly after his death, which a medical
examinei ruled occurred between 12-12:30 am
I What happened9
Was Pickering on his way home9 What was he
doing and where had he been before his death that
flight? These and many other questions have been
plaguing officials sinee that time.

A second major question surrounding Picker-
t ing’s death is, “Why were there no skid marks at
the scene of the accident? Why no broken glass, no
broken parts of a vehicle?"
These and many other questions still remain
unanswered despite intensive investigation by law
