SHERIFF TO ALLOW
KLAN PARADES IF
THEY ARE ORDERLY
—
| From Dallas Times-Herald:
“So long as Ku Klux Klansmen
■ cont nue to stage their parades in
the orderly manner they have in Dal-
las county, I will make no effort to
stop them,” Sheriff Dan Harstan
said Monday morning when askel
what he intended doing after read-
ing the opinion of Attorney General
Cureton, which appeared n The
Times Herald Sunday.
“I read the statement of Mr.
Cureton and I do not see anywhere
in the statement where he said
klansmen were violating the law by
staging the parades.”
“I will take no act'on so Ion* as
parades are held in an orderly man-
ner, or until the attorney general
says positively klansmen are violat-
ing a law when they parade in
masks,” he said.
Sheriff Harston stated, however,
that in the event any violence was
done by persons whosoever he would
make an investigation and if the
evidence warranted arrests would
would be made.
