Dallas Holm and Praise concert was attended by the
Baptist youth in Corpus at the Bayfront Plaza Auditorium.
The band is a gospel band and Dallas writes alot of his own
arrangements. His music is aimed especially to young
people, but the older folk are quite impressed by him also.
Dallas gave his personal testimony and said that he was at
a point before he became a Christian where he did not even
want to hear the name of Jesus, but then Jesus came into
his heart and life and changed him for the better. His most
popular song is “Rise Again” which he wrote himself.
Corpus Minister brought the group to town and hopes to
have them again. Mike Bedford from Gardendale Baptist
Church was M.C. In November of 82 “The Imperials”
another gospel group will come and in February, a gospel
singer by the name of Francisco will come. After the
concert the group ate supper. Youth attending were Robert
Carter, Pam Drennan, Brent Walker, Cindy Bates, Sugy
Drennan, Gloria Rigdon, David Parchman, Scot Haynes,
and Joey Brieden. Sponsors were Gene and Jane Bruce,
Sonja Herrington, R.B. and Jewel Cowley, Doris and Herb
Forse, Sissy Hodge, Sam and Elma Bromley, and Lataine
Dillard.
