A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the legal holidays recognized by this state and to the
entitlement of state employees to certain paid holidays.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Title 72, Revised Statutes, is amended by adding
Article 4591A to read as follows:
Art. 4591A. HOLIDAYSSec. 1. DEFINITIONS. In this Ict:
(1) "Major national holiday" means:
(A)
Monday in January;
February;
New Year's Day, January 1;

(2) "State agency" means a department, commission,
board, office, or other
agency of state government,

(E) Independence Day, July 4;
(F) Labor Day, the first Monday in September;
