may not recognize due to the PLASTIC environment
which will be created inside for the dance, the NOVAS

then thursday evening at 7:30 the student government
convocation will be held in the gym and this year's
president, bill cirone, will preside, this is also the time
that all campus ORGANIZATIONS officially explain
themselves and are open for new members, it's a good
time to get an idea for the clubs and organizations that
you might be interested in joining.
following the convocation, this semester's first
COFFEE HOUSE will be open in the art building, the
coffee house is not an orientation-week, once-a-semester,
or even once-a-month activity, every tuesday (the
regular coffee house night) evening you'll be able to find
the coffee house located in the art building, in addition
to relaxing with friends and enjoying coffee and cookies
or donuts , you will be provided with entertainment from
both university and off-campus talent as well, a small
charge is necessary to cover the cost of the coffee and
food, the manager, judy crews, has already recruited sev-
eral people from the area to sing and play this thursday,
so after the convocation, why not get acquainted with the
coffee house.
be prepared for friday evening, lots of planning has
gone into this evening and it should prove to be lots of
fun.it all begins with a cook-out dinner from 6-7pm.
hot dogs will be roasted down by north hall (the scene
of last year's horny day feast—for those who remember),
from 7-7:30 there will be a SCAVENGER HUNT that
will quickly acquaint you with the campus and will give
the freshmen a chance to meet some of the upperclassmen
-asking directions, getting hints on finding some of the
objects, getting help on translating the lists, beginning
at 7:30 and leaving about every 30 minutes after that will
be a HAY RIDE to all the scenic and historic spots on the
ud campus, all evening there will be various activities on
the mall-coke concessions, cotton candy, don't miss the

complete its function by several different programs, while
not all the programs are completed, each one is well past
the formative stage and nearing completion; the programs
include lectures from visiting professors, a film series by
one of the true geniuses of film, student discounts to the
city’s fine arts functions, and the possibility of tickets
and transportation to rock concerts, a number of speakers
have been contacted; each is, in some way, an original con-
tributor to his field of study, they include: MARTIN DIA-
MOND, a politics professor who was listed as one of the
top ten teachers in 1968; FR. G. HENRI TAVARD, a
noted catholic theologian and ecumenist; HANNAH
ARENDT, an interpreter of pre-classical thought; and
DR. T. TAYLOR, an agronomist, the film series which
has been prepared is a russian festival, the director of the
films is eisenstein. the films include IVAN the TERRIBLE
(parts 1 and 2), and ALEXANDER NIVESKY, and one
german film,THE THREE PENNY OPERA, each of the
last two programs depends not so much on our work as
on the willingness of the students, the city is rich in arts and
the availibility of these will depend on the student response,
this year the committee will arrange for large discounts to
all the symphonies, operas, and theatres, we will also
try to provide tickets and transportation to any local
rock concert, much of the success of this year depends
on you and your interests, if you want to have an intel-
ligent and culturally rich year YOU must be willing to
work and put-out. if you wart this kind of year, stop
and talk to me.
