“qead one” in the Nbwn, is the slogan
down at the thriving little city of
Eliasville and a visit round among
the leading business firms of the city
impresses one With ths ldrt that the
slogan is also the spirit of the peo-
ple. The dull times that have pre-
vailed throughout the country have
been but slightly felt in Elissvillle
and building has progressed wonder-
fully well in the past weeks. Several
large and permanent appearing busi-
ness houses are now nearing comple-
tion while others are just starting
and we are informed that various
business enterprises will occupy the
new structures as fast as they are

Wd now the organization is back-f

a health campaign that is expected to
make Eliasville ^ the cleanest town in
the country.
While Eliasville is necessarily and
actually an oil town, the general
conditions of law and order, good
people and substantial business and
growth indicate rathei* a growing
and commercial center of many more
years than the present town boasts.
Three churches hold Sunday schools
and are crowded every Sunday and
when only two churches hold preach-
ingservices there is hardly t^oom for
the congregations in the buildings.
The public school is running smooth-
ly, though crowded, ' and there is
seldom occasion for complaint of vio«
lations of the lawf. *•
Eliasville’s location, about midway
between Graham and Breckenridge, is
said to be the reason for a good town
as a real town, is actually needed in
the fiddle of the greatest oil field of
Texas. Investors seem to agree with
this idea and continue to place money
in the town property. --

but most of them stand pat on a well
withip the time limit, or forfeiture
c»f the lease, and the leases are too
valuable to lose. , This condition ac-
counts for about twenty-five rigs that
are now being built or to be started
at once, and about two hundred more
that are expected to be gotten, under
way within the next ninety day*.
The advent of the railroad is anx-
iously awaited by tfre people of Eli-
asvifle and they have the assurance
that trains will connect the little
city with the outside world within
the next three or four months. The
grade work between Graham and Eli-
haville and the buildihg of depots is
scheduled to begin this week. .
*'• Increased activities, in oil develop-
r ment and pipe line construction cm
ploys a great number of laborers
and there are very few men in thq'
town that ^ire unemployed when, they
want to work.
A recent cut in wages has produced- ~
small complaint as prices oL living
have come down accordingly and la-
bor seenjs content with the pay en-
velop.
Contrary to the rule in oil towns,
■prices of all the necessities are in line
wjth other places and in most in-
stances the same db in the railroad
towns. A good mcalVpiay be had for
fifty cents and a room fdr a day
only costs the purchaser from a dol-
'nr to a dollar fifty. A suit of clothes
in Eliasville brings only the Fort
Worth retail price and groceries are
soki oa a close margin. —
