day night, Dec. 7. Individuals,
schools, clubs, etc., are invited to
enter. Prises for first three places
will be given.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ligon and
family were dinner guests of Mr. ,
.and Mrs. Sam Ligon, of Lone Oak,
last Sunday.
The seventh grade was entertain-
ed last Wednesday with a Thanks- 1
giving party at the gymnasium.
Games were played. Prises in con-
tests were awarded to Junior Laney,
and Bthel Jeffreys. The class was
entertained by their team, Mrs. Eula
B. Swaim. Refreshments of fruit
and pumpkin pie with whipped
cream were served to the 27 class-
mates. Table decorations were ap-
ples dresufd as Pilgrims and plate
' ^favors of Pilgrims.

Garland visited Mr. and Mrs. Nile
Creacy of Farmer on Thanksgiving
and Mrs. Sidney Baldwin and
visited Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert

The following communication has
been received from Leonard B.
Holder, Jr., recruiting officer at
Breckenridge:
“A large number of vacancies now
exist in the U. S. Army Air Corp
and Signal Corp for young men who
are qualified. Men enlisted in these
two branches have the opportunity
to learn to be pilots, airplane me-
chanics, meteorologists, parachute
riggers, radio and telephone opera-
tors, welders, aerial photographers,
metal craftsmen, and other trades
too numerous to mention. A single
man with a High School Diploma is
eligible for enlistment in these
branches. FY>r enlistment apply at
the City Hall, Breckenridge, Texan."
