delegates be selected to represent
the precinct in the oounty conven-

tlemen were elected in the trder
named by acclamation : Si W.
Graves, Robt. Holman, A. R. Cro-

As Boop'r-fw the delegates were
chosen the anti-Hogg mey moved
to adjourn, but there1 was so much
clamor against the motion that the
liters withdrew it before it wan
put to a vote. Thereupon, P. A,.
Martin, in a speech of about twenty
minutes, moved that the delegatee
be instructed to vote for Janies 8.
Hogg for Govomor. Robt. Holman
replied at some length against Hogg
and the commission and mVOring
Cook. Some personal remarks
made by Mr. Holman caused Mr.
Martin to rejoin with some bitter-
nerness and also brought Mr. J. J.
M array to his feet for a personal ex-
planation, and he took the occasion
to administer a withering rebuke to
merous objections and calls to order
the debaters continued to talk, the
discussion becomflig warmer arid
wanner un.li the chairman put the
vote, whicli resulted in a complete
triumph for the Hogg men, who
carried the motion to instruct for
Hogg by a vote of 40 to 10. The

The following resolutions, offered
by Col. O. E. Finlay, were read
and unanimously adopted: •
Resolved. That we, each and ev-
ery one of us, who participate in
this convention, do hereby bind
ourselves to support the nominees
of the State Democratic Convention
soon to convene at San Antoniol
Resolved, That we, the Democ-
racy of Precinct No. 1, Young Co.,
Texas, do hereby endorse the ad-
ministration of L. 8. Ross, our pres-
ent Gtfvernar, as wise, efficient, and
for the best Interests of the whole
people, ..'.ul.'. \ ,-j.
The convention was extraordina-
rily well attended and most of the
people present were of the farming
class. This accounts in some de-
gree for the triumph of Hogg, who
is immensely popular with the far-
mers of this county. It is greatly
to be regretted that there was so
much personal feeling manifested
in the Convention, but it is now
generally conceded that the county
will instruct for Hogg on first ballot
next .Saturday. It' is worthy of
notr ijrnthfo connection that several
of the older hemtitiff the convention;
especially J. '8. Htarrett and Col.
Crosier; who did the best they could
to “pour oil on the troubled waters’*
and reduce the convention to a state
of peace and quiot.'*
