Solid support for the rapid im-
provement of the Possum Kingdom
Highway and the connecting links to
Wichita Falls and San Antonio was
pledged Tuesday at the reorgani-
sation meeting of Highway 81 Asso-
ciation in De Leon. The new asso-
ciation was formed to include the
towns of Wichita Falls, Archer City,
Olney, Newcastle, Graham, Strawn,
Deademona, De Leon, Comanche,
Goldthwaite, San Saba, Llano, Fred-
ericksburg, Kerrville, Bandera, and
San Antonio.
The ultimate aim of this organi-
sation as expressed in a resolution
presented by delegates from Strawn,
is a Federal Highway through the
towns in the Association.
New officers elected were H. '
Burks of Comanche, president, and
Glenn Burgess, secretary. Each
town along the route is to have a
director .and F. R. Marchman will be
Graham’s official director.
This highway when finished will
give Graham a south outlet to the
Dam and to San Antonio. It will
serve to develop a rich agricultural
and ranching territory. From Gra-
ham to San Antonio it will be the
most scenic long route in Texas.
