Provide SVCI database-linked technical services in support of outreach efforts by SVCI protects:
During the project period, Elsie B. Wiley conducted no on-site visits. The SVCI database allows
sites to document mother's self report or other verification sources (i.e., doctor, clinics) for dates
of immunization receipt. The database allows sites to gain access via a secure website. In order
to provide technical support to each site, Elsie Wiley communicates via telephone calls and E-
mail messages. During the last quarter, she received 29 E-mail messages from SVCI sites, and
sent 23 E-mail messages, and no facsimiles. Telephone calls from SVCI sites totaled 8, and 9
calls were placed to sites by Mrs. Wiley.
Provide technical assistance to local immunization coalitions and senior volunteer organizations
interested in implementing SVCI-type projects:
No further technical assistance was provided to representatives from Abilene, as no additional
contacts or requests have been received. Communication with representatives in Laredo
continues; an RFP was sent during the last project period.
Submit news items to the editor of TDH Immunization Division's newsletter, "Upshot",
concerning SVCI-type projects statewide:
The SVCI Bulletin will be sent out in February. Submission of a press release has been deferred
until the next quarter. A journal article was submitted during the previous project period.
Evaluate project outcomes by montorg existng projects, analyzing data in the project's
principal database and reporting results to TDH Immunization Division:
The following status reports for existing SVCI projects include post-training technical
assistance/monitoring contacts that occurred during the thirty-eighth reporting period:
Amarillo
Status as of 12/31/04: Project operational as of 2/1/97. Collaboration with the Coalition
of Health Services effort, "2 Care for Moms," that advocates early prenatal care,
continues.
Hospitals: Northwest Texas Hospital; Baptist St. Anthony (added in February, 1998);
Hereford Regional Medical (added in January, 1999); Golden Plains of Borger
Hospital (added in May, 1999); Pampa Regional (added in January 2000);
Ochiltree County Hospital in Perryton (added in October 2000).
Number of Births at SVCI Hospitals: 864
Number of SVCI Enrolled Mother Infant Pairs: 659
Enrollment percentage: 76%
Features: RSVP conducts SVCI project through local funding and supplemental
UNT/TDH funding to cover area rural counties. Coordinator works with several
local agencies to promote immunizations such as Shots Across Texas, Adult
Literacy of Borger, 2 Care for Babies and Moms Coalition in Amarillo and
Potter/Randall Partnership for Immunizations, Health Care Coalition Fair.
