Sound Business
Principles
The electric industry ha* just one source of rev-
enue. That is the sale of its service. When this
revenue is sufficient for the cost of the service—
which inpiudes the wages of the capitai employed in
the indusWy^continuous good service is assured.
But every item that adds To the cost of the service
must be reflected nv wadt the consumer pays for the
service-for what the tjonsumer pays is the only rev-
enue the company pin gpt.
So the burdens of taxation—the coat of govern-
ment—when imposed upon public utilities out of pro-
portion to other industry are adHed charges against
the people who use this public u ility service. To
impose undue tax burdens on any public utility sim-
ply makes that utility a tax collector—but it must in
the very nature of the case add to the cost of that
utility service.

’99 Club
The ’99 Club met with Mrs.
T. W. Vaughan Friday after;
noon. A very unusual study wa*
conducted by Mrs. Martin. We
took the literal interpretation of
-he Songs of Solomon, studying
it in drama form. The leader had
folders priulecjj with an outline
of the drama. She gave them
out to the i members a week
ahead that they might all be
prepared to get the most out of
the subject. Under the direction
ot one so well prepared, we each
admitted being much wiser on
the subject of Solomon, when
the study was .concluded, agree-
ing that his downfall might be
attributed to seven hundred
wives.
The Club was pleased to have
as visitois, Mesdames Quick-
enstedt. Calloway and Vermil-
lion. Dainty refreshments were
served by the hostess.
The Club will mpet with Mrs.
