Accompanying information : ""D" Troop, First Texas Calvary, Corsicana, Texas. On active duty near the Rio Grande River 1916."

User feedback regarding Joe M. Daniel: "His full name was Josiah Martin Daniel, and he was born January 27, 1880 in Kerens, Texas, and lived in Corsicana or Kerens most of his life. He died February 20, 1968. A Texas historical marker about him stands in downtown Kerens. Yes, he served in West Texas in Troop D, 1st Cavalry of the Texas National Guard that was attached to the U.S. Army expedition that was a response to Pancho Villa's incursion into the USA. He later served in the State Guard, rising to the rank of Colonel. From 1947-1953, he was the Chair of the Texas Veterans Affairs Commission."
