Santa Fe
Hay Build
Fort Worlh, March 4.—That
the Santa Fe railway system will
)on be operating into Midland
generally rumored in Fort
forth in railway circles. Tiiis
>ng desired entry will begained
y the purchase of a small road
nd the building of a twelve-mile
winecting link, according to the
amor.
The Santa Fe is now building
of trains.
Midland &
iy for the opera-
Simultaneously,
Northwestern, a
enterprise, is be-
didland to Semi-
t points only twelve miles apart
-Seminole and Blythe.
If the Santa Fe effects the pur-
lia.se of the Midland & Northwest
rn, as it is proposed, a twelve-
liles extension will be built from
Hythe to Seminole to connect the
rids of the roads now under con-
truction, and thus the entrance
f the Santa Fe into Midland w
e t fleeted and the long desired
urpose of the road accomplished.
The SantaFe more than a year
go purchased approximately 200-
00 acres of rich farming land in
he vicinity of Blythe, and with
he opening of the Midland coun-
ry should make those sections one
f the best farming communities
n the state of Texas.
Eye Trouble
O SAY CARYOU 5*1
Can be relieved by properly fitted glasses.
Eyes tested without the use of drugs (DROPS) to dilate the
Pupil is the only proper and.safe way to get glasses fitted that
will satisfy.
If you let them dilate your pupil it produces an unnatural
condition of the eye. 1st there is more light entering the eye
than you are use to receiving. 2nd. the irregular portion of
the Crystaline Lens is exposed to light that is never exposed
under the natural laws of nature in using your eyes. 3rd. When
the eye is dilated the muscles are paralyzed and the eye is in
a dead condition.
4th. When the eye muscles are Paralyzed the'eye lias no power
to focus in a natural way. 5th. The deadly drugs often leav-
es these little muscles permanently useless and no power of
secomodation left to focus the eye property thereafter.
And the lenses tested to a dead eye while under the dilation
will never be the correct lens for a live eye to wear when the
muscles are again in action. I fit eyes with glasses in their nat-
ural way that are guaranteed to satisfy.

R. A. RAGLANI)
Some one has become unneces-
irily exercised over the fact that
re sident W. B. Biz/,ell of the Ag-
ieultural & Mechanical college at
iryan will have the direction of
ne West Texas Agrieultuarl and
Mechanical college in hand, as
11 be seen by a news paper di»-
tch from Austin.
The Standard regards any fight
at might be made upon Presi-
dent Bizzell of the Agricultural
Mechanical college as pure
•oinbe. The legislature passed
house bill creating tbe West
its Agricultural & Mechanical
■ge with the full understand-
ing it was to be a branch of the
Agricultural & Mechanical college
Bryan; that it would come un-
.• the control of the same board
that manages the Bryan institu-
reeting spirit in its government.
The Standard takes the posi-
tion that President Bizzell was se-
lected to fill the position he occu-
pies because of his fitness; that,
therefore, he is bound to he a
broad-minded scholar who would
rot allow any opinions he held to
before the West Texas Agrieul-
ural & Mechanical college was an
homed by the legislature body
to influence him in the manage-
ment of the newly created insti-
ution.
To hold otherwise would be to
imply lie was a narrow-minded
political barnacle on the good
ship of State just for what mater-
ial benefits be receives. The Stand
ard has observed throughout
many years that educators of the
type of President Bizzell have all
tite elements of manhood that are
essential to the common weal;
that his type of manhood has the
courage to bring victory out of
defeat ,and ventures to predict
that if the West Texas Agricul-
tural & Mechanical college is left
tu the wisdom and discretion of
President Bizzell that in the eourse
of a few years it will rank second,
if not equal, with the Agricultural
and Mechanical college at Bryan,
of which he is now the shining
light and leading spirit—San. An-
gelo Standard.
