GIVEN A WAT!
NO LOTTERY! NO HUMBUG! NO SWINDLE!
Premiums Given Awau Absolutely Free to Banner Subscribers!
SBGOND f\NNUf\L DISTRIBUTION
...TAKES PLACE...
SATURDAY. DEGEMB&R 24, 1904
The Banner takes pleasure in announcing its Second Annual Distribution of Valuable Premiums, the same to be given Absolutely Free to its Subscribers. LAST YEAR
WE GAVE AWAY $200 WORTH OF PRESENTS, AND THIS YEAR WILL INCREASE THE AMOUNT TO $500. The drawing will take place on Saturday,
December 24, in the town of Jacksonville, and will be public, so that all may see that it is fair to every one, just as it was last year. & ^ &
Yon will remember that The Banner was the first paper in Cherokee county to give Premiums. Last year we advertised that $200 worth of Premiums would be given away on
Christmas Eve, and on that day hundreds of people were in Jacksonville for the purpose of witnessing the distribution. At 3 o’clock in the afternoon they assembled in front of the office,
elected a committee to superintend the drawing, and also selected a boy to draw the numbers. There were fifty Premiums, numbered from 1 to 50. A box was placed in the hands of the
committee, and into this box was emptied a duplicate number for every subscription receipt that had been issued.
The box was shaken, and the blind folded boy drew out a number. It was No. 481, and was held by Mrs. M. J. Smith, of Craft, and she was entitled to Premium No. 1, which was a
$40 Buck’s Cook Stove.
Again the boy drew out a number, and this time it was 858. This receipt was held by W. L. Key, of Alto, and Premium No. 2, a handsome $40 Bed Room Suit, was 'shipped to him
after the drawing.
The third draw brought out No, 531, held by John B. Prather, of Jacksonville, and entitled him to $35 Sewing Machine, which was delivered the same day.
The fourth Premium went to J. T. Morgan, of Jacksonville, being an Oliver Chilled Plow, his receipt being No. 72. (Morgan was too lazy to use the plow, but sold it toa man who wasn’t)
C. West at Alto, drew the next Premium; J. P. Tatlian at Rusk, the next, and so on until the fifty had been disposed of.
Premiums were scattered all over the county, a few went out of the county, and one went out of the State. The following postoffices were represented in the distribution: Craft,
Alto, Jacksonville, Rusk, Board, Dialville, Gladewater, Clarksville, Gent, Wills Point, Overton and Reynolds. ......The same plan will be adopted this year, the only difference being that
the smallest Premiums will be drawn first and the largest last.
1 \r Who pay $1.00 for their paper for the year 1905 get Qfi 1 Her* !">£*»•€: Who pay for their papers up to January 1, 1905, and $1.00 for
VV CCffViy IMUS a chance in the drawing free. Ualiy IUCI three months in advance, also get a free chance. J- j*
Remember the Plan
are
You pay nothing for these Premiums, but they
given away to show our appreciation of your paying
in advance for your paper. Every man who pays $1.00 gets his paper one year whether he
gets a premium or not. He pays for the paper, and not for a chance in the drawing. If he
is lucky enough to draw a Premium, he simply gets that much for nothing.
NJPW The Paper will be sent the balance of the year nineteen
~ vv hundred and four, and until January first, nineteen hun-
dred and six, for one ($1.00) dollar. So if you come under the head of a new subscriber
you get a whole lot more than your money’s worth. You should subscribe at once, for
you get the paper longer at the same price.
PREMIUM LIST.
NOTE—This List is printed backward, beginning at No. 50,
and running down to No. 1. In the Drawing we will begin
with No. 1, coming up the list until No. 50 is reached. The last
numbers drawn will call for the largest gifts. Don't forget this.

dlfte’d ?nan with our agreement.; .. ^Now, we are not engaged in a lottery, or any game of
nWe Ld we don’t wS any one to subscribe just for the sake of securing a chance in the drawing. We want you to read The Banner for next year, and we want you to pay for it in
for everybody. In order to get you to do this, we give the Premiums, and we can well afford it. .... ■- Figure it Out for YouRSELFt-Suppose
we midil500*pfelof The Banner every week, expecting at the end of the year to collect $1.00 from each subscriber. Suppose that we.have to do without our money for a whole year,
doJt we lose toeinterest on the money, amounting to $150 at 10 per cent? Suppose, again, that out of 1500 people, three or four hundred fad to pay at all-some dying, others moving
awav and others toiling from one cause or another, don’t we lose another $300 or $400? Out of $1500 we would probably get the equivalent of $1000 ,n cash. Now it we can collect this
«1500 toActual cash wWmut taking chances on anybody, and to additian get the use of the money for a year longer, don’t you see where we can well afford to spend $o00 for premiums?
.... ..Subscribe for The Banner, get all the local news, and you will have made a good investment You can’t afford to do without a good county paper, and
vou canSget°the test*OT°the price of the poorest, and then to adititon you get a chance in the drawing, and nobody can possibly tell but what you may be tacky, .... • -Last Christmas Mrs.
slnitiiliFcraft received a $40 stove very unexpectedly; Mr. Key at Alto was given a $40 bed room suit that didnt cost him a cent; and Mr. Prather o Jacksonville received a $3o sewing ma-
cltoie\hat he never dreamed of getting—to say nothing of the forty-seven others to whom premiums were awarded. We will have agents all over the county, and they will give
numbered receipts Dotot pay anybody anything without taking a receipt. Tell your friends about this big oiler, and help us to build up a larger subscription list than we have ever had
before ? 17 .i -A j. J. J. SUBSCRIBE NOW—You lose a paper every week you delay. We send it from now until January 1st, >906, for One Dollar
