This map shows the United States, the Republic of Texas, and Mexico as well as some of the surrounding areas. Each of the U.S. states and territories, Texas, and Mexico are outlined in various colors. Towns, bodies of water, and geographic features are marked (with relief shown by hachures). There are three insets: District of Columbia (lower left corner); Michigan, Wisconsin & Iowa (lower right corner); and Map of Railways & Canals in the Middle States (upper right corner). There is a key at the bottom of the page that gives "References & Explanations."
