"Brewster County: Population 1928- 5,100; Area: 5,935 sq. mile; Rainfall: 14 inches; Altitude- 3000-7000'."

"Eastern part of County on a Trans-Pecos extension of the Edwards Plateau. Southern Central and Northern parts are mountainous. The Chisos, Comanche and other noteworthy ranges lie in this county. The county lies in what is known as the "Big Bend" of the Rio Grande, being bounded on the South by this stream, which at places flows through one of the noteworthy canyons of North America. Great variety of soils."

"Bulletins on Texas minerals list many different kinds in this country. Quicksilver production of Texas, which ranks second among the states, comes from Brewster County. Lead, silver, gold, copper, marble, granite and other minerals are found. Much of the surface rock is igneous."

"Alpine is the count, seat and principal banking and trade center. The population about 4000. It is a shipping center for cattle and mine products and also the seat of Sol Ross State Teachers College. Marathan is a shipping point on the Southern Pacific cast of Alpine. Terlingua is a quicksilver mining town in the southern part of the county Extension of the Orient (now Sana Fe) from Alpine south through Brewster and Presidio counties will aid in developing this county."
