O. O. Woodman, Esq.; Dear Sir—l'here
are but few of the very many nostrums now
oiftred to the public to which 1 would be wil-
ling to lend the sanction of my name; how-
ever humble it may be either in the world o
letters or of medicine. Observation and expe-
rience, however, have forced upon me the con-
viction, that Billings' Carminative and Astrin-
gent Syrup, is a very valuable compound,
prepared upon scientific principles—perfectly in
narmo'ny with the laws of organic life—and
therefore deserves, although its ingredients are
kept secret, to rank higher in the scale of re-
medial agents than a mere nostrum, it affords
me pleasure to be able, without the fear of suc-
cessful contradiction, to add my testimony in
favor of its etticiency, as a sale and pleasapt
remedy, ip all the forms of bowel complaints
for which it is recommended. 1 have used it
myself in several very interesting chronic cases
olDiarrtaea and Dysentery, and recommended
it in many others—and in every m>tunce,
kespectfally, yours, D. M. PORTER, m. d.
Providence, La., May 25, 1847.
O. O. Woodman, Esq.; Dear Sir— 1 arrived
at heme safely and am happy to inlorm you
that my health was very much improved by
the few doses of Dr. Billings' Carminative and
Astringent Syrup, which you gave me. 1 con-
tinued to take it for two days, and am now
quite well. I think it is lar the best prepara-
tion for severe cases of diarrh«a, that 1 have
ever known. . Please send one dozen boUlcs.
