of Western Texas all that certain tract, piece or parcel of land
ling and being situated in the City of Beeville, County of Bee and
State of Texas described to wit: being a part of Lot #2 in Block
#22 according tot he map and survey of thekoin of Beeville, etc.'
Deed signed by Wm.S. McClanahan, 19th. day of May A.D. 1890. The
price paid for the lot was $200.00. It is the present site of the
church and lies in the old Ann Burke townsite of Beeville.
Evidently a Transept, the first unit of thepresent church, was
built around 1893, for the scanty church history reveals in the words
of Rector G.A. McDougall, written May 1/, 1911: "During the last
named period (winter of 1909 and spring of 1910) the church made
great strides. I sold block of land left church by H.W. Wilson for
$550.00. By personal solicitation in Beeville, I raised almost a
similar amount and the1adies Guild contributed about $200.00, so by
God's help we had the Nave built on to the old Transept and finished
the Tower. The church was presenting a very handsome appearance."
